ザ・マルは、東端のトラファルガー広場と西のバッキンガム宮殿の間の一直線の道です。ザ・マルは、20世紀初めに式典用の道として想像されるようになり、新古典主義様式の建物が、ザ・マルのために作られました。ヴィクトリア記念碑が、1911年にザ・マルの西端に立てられました。アドミラルティ・アーチは、1912年にザ・マルの東端に建てられました。バッキンガム宮殿の大きな東正面は、1913年に現在の形に改修されました。赤く塗装されたザ・マルは、バッキンガム宮殿への巨大なレッドカーペットです。ザ・マルは、また、2012年のロンドン・オリンピックのマラソンのようなロードレースのスタートおよびゴール地点として使用されています。
The Mall is the straight road between Trafalgar Square at its eastern end and Buckingham Palace to the west. The road was envisioned as a ceremonial route in the early 20th century and then Neoclassical buildings were developed for the road. The Victoria Memorial was erected at the western end of the road in 1911. Admiralty Arch was built at the eastern end of the road in 1912. The large east front of Buckingham Palace was remodelled to its present form in 1913. The road coloured red is a giant red carpet to the palace. The road has been also used to be a starting and finish line of road races such as marathon races at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
