バッキンガム宮殿は、イギリス君主のロンドンの宮殿です。1703年、後に宮殿の建築の中核を構成する邸宅が、バッキンガム公のために建てられ、バッキンガム・ハウスと知られました。バッキンガム・ハウスは、1761年にジョージ3世に売却されました。建物は、元々は王妃の私邸として意図され、クイーンズ・ハウスと知られました。ジョージ4世は、1826年にクイーンズ・ハウスを新古典主義様式の宮殿に改修することを決め、その後、ウィリアム4世が、建設を完了させました。宮殿は、1837年のヴィクトリア女王の即位の際にイギリス君主のロンドンの住まいになりました。
Buckingham Palace is the London palace of the British monarch. In 1703 the townhouse forming later the architectural core of the palace was built for the Duke of Buckingham. Therefore the building was known as Buckingham House. The building was sold to George III in 1761. The building was originally intended as a private residence for his queen. Therefore the building was known as the Queen’s House. George IV decided to modify the building into a palace in the Neoclassical style in 1826. Subsequently William IV completed the construction. The building became the London residence of the monarch on the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837.

The large east front facing the Mall was built from 1847 to 1850 and was remodelled to its present form in 1913. The east front is today the public face of the palace and contains the balcony on which the royal family traditionally congregates to greet crowds.

Buckingham Palace looks not so splendid but is simple and sturdy. The British royal guards are trained well and never smile.
バッキンガム宮殿の公式諸間は、1993年以降、夏の間（7月末～9月末）および通年の決められた日に一般公開されています。元々は、入場料で得られるお金は、1992年の火事によって公式諸間の多くが荒廃したウィンザー城の再建に回されました。バッキンガム宮殿庭園は、普段は一般公開されていませんが、バッキンガム宮殿ツアーの最後の出口となっています。
The state rooms of Buckingham Palace have been open to the public during summer season (from the end of July to the end of September) and on selected dates throughout the year since 1993. Originally the money raised in entry fees was put towards the rebuilding of Windsor Castle after the 1992 fire devastated many of its state rooms. Buckingham Palace Garden is not usually open to the public but forms the exit from the palace at the end of the tour.

The British royal guard hands over responsibility for protecting Buckingham Palace and St. James’s Palace to the new guard at the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The ceremony takes place daily in the morning from April until the end of July and on alternate days for the rest of the year. Many tourists come to see this ceremony.
