Bank Junction is the major road junction in the City of London. The junction was named after the Bank of England. The junction is the financial centre of the city.

The Royal Exchange

The Royal Exchange was founded in the 16th century. The first building was opened in 1571 and was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The second building on the site was opened in 1669 and was again burnt down in 1838. The present building was built in the Neoclassical style opened in 1844. Traditionally the steps of the building is the place where certain royal proclamations (such as the dissolution of parliament) are read out by either a herald or a crier. The building is one of the locations where a herald proclaims the new monarch to the public following the death or abdication of the previous monarch.

The Bank of England

The Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom and the model on which most modern central banks have been based. The bank was established in 1694. The bank moved to its current location in 1734 and afterwards was rebuilt in the first half of the 20th century.
