The Westgate is a city gate in Canterbury, England, the United Kingdom.
ウェストゲートは、中世の門楼で、カンタベリーの街の西の玄関です。ウェストゲートは、1380年に建てられ、カンタベリーの7つの中世の市門のうち最後に現存するものです。ロンドンからの巡礼者達は、ウェストゲートをくぐってカンタベリー大聖堂に歩いていきました。ウェストゲートは、今なおよく保全されており、カンタベリーの最も特色あるランドマークの一つです。ウェストゲートは、18メートルの高さがあり、イングランドで最も大きな現存する市門です。
The Westgate is a medieval gatehouse and is an entrance to the city of Canterbury to the west. The gatehouse was built in 1380 and is the last survivor of the 7 medieval gates of the city. The pilgrims from London have walked to Canterbury Cathedral through the gatehouse. The gatehouse is still well-preserved and one of the most distinctive landmarks in the city. The gatehouse is 18 metres tall and is the largest surviving city gate in England.
