Riddarholm Church (Riddarholmskyrkan) is a Gothic church belonging to the Church of Sweden. The church stands on Riddarholmen (meaning the Knights’ Islet).
リッダルホルム教会は、1270年に創設されたフランシスコ会の修道院の修道院教会に起源があります。この修道会教会は、1300年頃に建てられました。フランシスコ会は修道院教会に塔を認めていなかったので、この修道院教会には塔がありませんでした。その後、この修道院教会は、宗教改革後の1527年に解散し、プロテスタントの教会に転換されました。尖塔は、16世紀にヨハン3世の治世に加えられました。教会は、1835年に落雷による火事によって破壊され、1838～1846年に再建されました。その後、再び、1914～1922年に修復されました。
The church originated in a monastery church for a Franciscan monastery founded in 1270. The monastery church was built around 1300. The monastery church lacked towers because the Franciscans did not allow towers on the monastery churches. Afterwards the monastery church was dissolved in 1527 after the Reformation and was transformed into a Protestant church. A spire was added during the reign of John III in the 16th century. The church was destroyed by a fire caused by a lightning strike in 1835 and was rebuilt from 1838 to 1846. Afterwards the church was restored again from 1914 to 1922.

The congregation was dissolved in 1807 and today the church is used only for burial and commemorative purposes. The church is the burial site of the Swedish monarchs.
