St. John’s Co-Cathedral is a co-cathedral (Kon-Katidral ta’ San Ġwann) in Valletta, Malta and is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the City of Valletta.
聖ヨハネ准司教座聖堂は、カトリック教会の准司教座聖堂で、洗礼者ヨハネに献堂されています。聖ヨハネ准司教座聖堂は、洗礼者ヨハネの修道会教会堂として、聖ヨハネ騎士団によって、1573～1578年にマニエリスム様式で建てられました。聖ヨハネ准司教座聖堂の内装は、17世紀にバロック様式であらためて装飾されました。聖ヨハネ准司教座聖堂は、世界中で最も素晴らしいバロック建築の一つと考えられています。この教会は、聖ヨハネ騎士団がマルタを追い出された1798年まで、騎士団の修道会教会堂でした。その後、この教会は、イムディーナにあるマルタ大司教座と等しく著名になっていたので、公式に准司教座聖堂となりました。
St. John’s Co-Cathedral (Kon-Katidral ta’ San Ġwann) is a co-cathedral of the Catholic Church and was dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The church was built in the Mannerist style from 1572 to 1577 by the Order of St. John as the Conventual Church of St. John. The interior of the church was redecorated in the Baroque style in the 17 century. The church is considered to be one of the finest examples of the Baroque architecture in the world. The church remained the conventual church of the order until the order was expelled from Malta in 1798. Afterwards the church formally became a co-cathedral because the church had grown to equal prominence with the cathedral in Mdina.
