The Church of St. Cataldus is a church in Rabat, Malta.
聖カタルドゥス教会は、カトリック教会の教会で、ターラントの聖カタルドゥスに献堂されています。聖カタルドゥスは、アイルランドで生まれ、685年頃にイタリアのターラントで亡くなりました。古代の地下墓地（カタコンベ）が、この小さなバロック様式の教会の下にあります。地下墓地は、ローマ人は町の中に死者を埋葬することは非衛生的であると考えたため、ローマ時代に用いられました。カタコンベは、後には、迫害されていた時代の初期のキリスト教徒によって、密かに会合しミサを行うために使われました。
The Church of St. Cataldus is a Catholic church and is dedicated St. Cataldus of Taranto. He was born in Ireland and died around 685 in Taranto in Italy. Ancient catacombs lie beneath this small Baroque church. Catacombs were utilised in the Roman times to lay the dead to rest as the Romans considered it was unhygienic to bury the dead in the city. Catacombs were used later on by early Christians who secretly met and celebrated mass in times when Christians were persecuted.
